Born and raised in El Salvador, married Lorena in 1984. The Lord has given them 10 godly and accomplished children. Carlos came to faith in Christ in June 1972.
While teaching and completing his engineering education, Carlos served as a pastor and held national youth leadership positions with CAM International.
The Lord placed in them a burden for cross-cultural missions, and Carlos and Lorena proceeded to secure the means to relocate to the Middle East.
Carlos completed his post-grad education in engineering at UT, Austin, where he worked for the dean doing research for the US Environmental Protection Agency. In 2010, Carlos was conferred an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree by the Evangelical Theological Seminary of Indonesia.
After completing his post-grad education, they moved to Guatemala to serve with COMIBAM (Cooperation Missions Iberoamerica) International, serving some 22 countries, a movement that marked the shift of Latin America from a mission field to a missions force.
After COMIBAM, Carlos volunteered as a teaching elder in his local church in Austin, TX, in preparation for his role leading an American church-based church planting team to Turkey.
At this time, Partners asked Carlos to serve as their Area Director, charged with the expansion into Central Asia, Middle East, and North Africa. Carlos designed, managed, and successfully implemented this expansion, while also shifting Partners’ work in Africa from Anglophone to Francophone (primarily Muslim) Africa.
For the last 17 years, till June 2023, Carlos served as the VP of Partners, in charge of the conceptualization and implementation of all field strategies, leading a multinational field team serving the indigenous churches in the 10/40 Window.
Carlos is an ordained minister and a firm believer in the local church, advocating that those who know Christ, everywhere, have the responsibility to offer God’s given talents, and together take the Gospel to all nations. Carlos believes that our mandate is to make disciples that make disciples, working in unity, celebrating diversity, and producing transparent, accountable, measurable ministry goals crafted in prayer, globally.
Since January 2024, Carlos has served with Global Fellowship, greatly anticipating laboring with this godly team.
